Graduate Students

The graduate programs of four departments at Emory and Georgia Tech include the courses and research of NeuroLab. We encourage you to learn more about their admissions and curricula at their web sites (below). Apply to the program that best suits your skills and interests, and be sure to check out our IGERT fellowship for funded graduate studies in Hybrid Neural Microsystems. The program of study offers an interdisciplinary and problem-based approach to neuroengineering for students from both biological science and engineering backgrounds.

Undergraduate Students

Any undergrads wishing to work in the Neurolab should first familiarize themselves with our web pages, and decide which Neurolab work most interests them. Then they should contact the professor in charge of the specific lab of interest, by phone or email, and ask whether they have any opportunities for undergrads.
GTEC Undergraduate Research Scholars
The Undergraduate Research Scholars (URS) program is currently accepting applications for the 2007 URS program. The URS program provides students with a full year of research experience working on their own research project in an IBB faculty laboratory. Students currently involved in labs as volunteers are encouraged to consider applying to the URS program. Successful applicants will have a minimum GPA of 3.3, junior standing by January 2007 and a strong interest in gaining substantial research experience. Applications are due by October 16, 2006. Undergraduate Research Opportunitites Program (UROP)
Visit the Georgia Tech UROP website for opportunities. Also find information about the President's Undergraduate Research Award (PURA).
There are also many opportunities for summer internships for students from other universities, funded by their home university or a 3rd party.

Postdocs

First look at the Jobs link at the top of the Neurolab pages. Even if no jobs are advertised, you may contact the lab head directly to express your interest in working in her or his lab. Such inquiries should be send by email, and accompanied by a CV, 3 references, and a cover letter explaining why you are interested in the specific work that lab does. Postdocs who come with their own fellowships are given priority, so you may want to apply for your own funding.
