We are interested in understanding the role of astroglial scar in regenerative failure on the central nervous system. In particular we are exploring the contribution of chondroitin sulfate glycosaminoglycans (CS-GAGs), a major constituent of glial scar in vivo, to inhibition of CNS and PNS nerves.
We are also interested in investigating both intrinsic and extrinsic approaches to overcoming scar-related inhibition in the CNS. This project is currently funded by NIH (NINDS) R01 NS043486.
