The goal of this project is to develop novel coatings for Si microelectrode arrays to that they can be optimized for stable chronic recordings from rat and primate cortex in vivo. Novel non-invasive optical imaging techniques are proposed including OCT and multi-photon microscope to preserve the electrode-host interface to help evaluate the true performance of neuro-integrative and anti-inflammatory properties of our coatings.
